Name: Liz Tramm

Age: 28

What has your yoga practice given you?
An appreciation for the process rather than the end result.

Why do you practice?
To better understand myself.

What's your dream pose?
I'm in awe of people who can do other poses while in handstand, so maybe scorpion in handstand.

What's your favorite pose?
Half moon and wild thing. I'll even add flying pigeon to the list thanks to yogahour.

What's your least favorite pose?
Wide-angle seated forward bend.

What do you do when you're off the mat?
I'm a staff attorney for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. I spend a lot of my free time on the Beltline. Recently, I've started to learn to code!

What brought you to Tough Love Yoga for the first time?
I was in search of a home studio when I moved to Atlanta.

What's your favorite thing about the studio?
The people, hands down. The feeling of being a part of the TLY community is pretty special, too.

What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Don't worry about what's going on around you. And have fun!

Water chestnuts are my least favorite food.

A terrible singer.

What's your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure?
Friday night cocktails at H. Harper Station.

What has your yoga practice given you?
Physical strength, greater headspace, and a fuller heart.

Why do you practice?
It just feels so good in every way.

What's your dream pose?
Scorpion in a handstand...on top of a mountain!

What's your favorite pose?
Peaceful warrior - it's a sneaky backbend and I like how grounded my legs feel.

What's your least favorite pose?
Pigeon - my hips and knees do not agree; I'll usually modify with figure-4!

What do you do when you're off the mat?
I work with wonderfully talented, hardworking people at a startup called Yik Yak, Inc. In my free time, I like to run outside, explore nooks and crannies of Atlanta, sip on local beer, and dance at as many live music shows as I possibly can!

What brought you to Tough Love Yoga for the first time?
It was in close proximity to my apartment, a friends' recommendation, and a curiosity for YogaHour.

What's your favorite thing about the studio?
The studio exudes an indescribable feeling of comfortability. The teachers radiate strength, mindfulness, and wisdom. The students share an eagerness to expand their practice and grow within themselves, without judgment nor competitiveness.

What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Actually getting to the studio and walking into the class is honestly the hardest part, because you could easily say "yeah, another time" and be elsewhere. But as soon as other students surround you and the class starts, you will be so glad you came.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I am a trap/dubstep head.

What three words would your best friend use to describe you?
Independent, energized, pensive.

Natalie Coughlin, Michael Pollan, Anthony Bourdain, and Diplo.

What has your yoga practice given you?
It's given me a much stronger connection to myself and the world around me.

Wheel

What do you do when you're off the mat?

The instructors. I consistently enjoy practicing with each teacher and am constantly learning new things.

What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Yoga is all about you. It's one of the best gifts you can give yourself and I encourage anyone to try it out who hasn't.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I love interior decor and took my beloved copies of the original Domino magazine with me when I moved to Chicago, and they came with me when I moved back to Atlanta. My movers hated me - boxes of magazines are super heavy!

Thoughtful, independent and loyal

What's your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure? Prosecco and St. Germain

Krissy Dahlstrom

Name: Kristina (Krissy) Dahlstrom

Age: 31

What has your yoga practice given you?
Yoga has given me so much. It's like a piece of me that I didn't know was missing until I started, but now I can't imagine my life without it. It's given me a sense of self, a confidence that I didn't know I had. I've been so much more positive and happy since I started practicing. It's given me a home within myself, and also within an amazing community of yogis.

Why do you practice?
I practice because it helps bring me out of my chaotic stressful life. Sometimes you can become your own worst enemy if you aren't careful, and I've learned that it's so important to take care of yourself, both physically and mentally. My practice is a  small part of my day where I am simply devoted to the mat and to myself. I'm challenged both externally and internally, and whether I'm practicing in class or at home, yoga brings me a sense of wholeness.

What's your dream pose?
Oh gosh, I have so many. Handstands, all the handstands. Definitely natarajasana (dancer's pose) too.

What's your favorite pose?
I love wheel. I feel both strong and vulnerable at the same time.

What's your least favorite pose?
I hate shoulder stands/plow. I feel like I'm suffocating.

What do you do when you're off the mat?
I'm kinda obsessed with my animals. I have a giant dog and two not-so-giant cats, and they're the best. I love music, I'm so happy that Atlanta gets so many good concerts. I'm a big book nerd too. It can't get better than good food, good music, and lots of laughter with family and friends.

What brought you to Tough Love Yoga for the first time?
Well my amazing boyfriend had recommended that I try yoga after hitting several exercise ruts and in-general being a stressed out mess. I had several friends that recommended Tough Love, so I decided to try a beginner's class with Elizabeth Ocheltree, and I never looked back.

What's your favorite thing about the studio?
Absolutely the people. Every person I've met through the studio, instructors or students, has been so kind, so welcoming. I just get such a great sense of community every time I walk in the door.

What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Don't get hung up by the expectations you put on yourself. It's not the pose, but how you get there. Don't be intimidated. Also, be prepared to get real sweaty, haha.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I was born without my lateral incisors (the teeth next to your two front teeth). My older brother was born without one, and my twin brother was born with really tiny ones.

What three words would your best friend use to describe you?
Kind, Quirky, Punctual

What's your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure?
Oreos, especially the fun flavored ones. Cotton Candy Oreos are AMAZING.

If you were having a dinner party and could invite anyone you wanted to, who would your four guests be?
Oooh, Barack Obama, Amy Poehler, Dave Grohl, and Chuck Palahniuk. I think that would be an interesting evening for sure.
