“Healing is justice.” - Chani Nicholas
Everyday Embodiment: Essential Strategies for Yoga Teachers is a weekend immersion for yoga instructors who are committed to teaching yoga as an embodied practice. This offering is anchored in the belief that embodied practices support our capacity for resilience, which helps us all be responsive, adaptive, and resourceful in our everyday lives. More importantly, resilience creates the conditions for healing both personally and collectively.
We will explore the following topics as they relate to teaching yoga:
•Trauma and its physical impact on our bodies
•Samkhya Philosophy and identity
•The sensate body and self-observation
•Ethics and scope of practice
•Self leadership and sustainability
•Self-care for mutual benefit
Our time together will require vulnerability, empathy, and courage. You can expect to move fluidly between yoga practices, lecture, and group discussion. Teachers who hold a 200 hour certification and have been teaching for a minimum of 3 months are welcome to join. While we will be covering topics that are applicable for teaching yoga in a variety of settings, this content is geared towards offering yoga in a studio setting.
