Come for a weekend of exploration into asana and peak pose sequencing strategies with Sam Rice!

This weekend is great for teachers and practitioners who are interested in understanding more about the art of sequencing for a variety of practitioner levels, from bare bones beginners to more experienced students. 

Peak pose sequences provide the opportunity to explore the component parts of a specific asana posture to create more potential for access and understanding of the body in relationship to the posture. Teachers will learn about landmarks to look for in their students’ bodies to help them refine their practices.

This weekend will help you cultivate the skills to create sophisticated and informative sequences to deepen your own personal practice and help others do the same.

This weekend immersion counts toward 20 CE hours.

Intro 2 Yoga

Come explore some of the staple postures practiced in a yoga class.  

Saturday, January 12th, 11am-12:30pm
Basics Backbend Class
In yoga asana, the shoulder and hip regions are sometimes referred to as the four corners of the body.  When we stabilize and mobilize the shoulders and hips, it can lead to a greater sense of freedom in the spine. In this class, we will explore rotation, extension, and flexion of the hips and shoulders to create more spaciousness throughout the spine and explore some back bending postures.

Saturday, January 12th, 4-5:30pm
Basics Arm Balance Class

What is required to do an arm balance is so much more than arm strength. Depending on the type of arm balance, it can be extremely beneficial to open your hips to make the shapes more accessible. Intricate and nuanced strengthening actions can also help the poses become light and buoyant. In this class, we will explore and break down the component parts of an arm balance posture. Expect to work hard at whatever stage you’re at and learn effective techniques along the way.

Sunday, January 13th, 11am-12:30pm
Expanding Backbend Class

This class will build upon the Basics Backbend class.  We will utilize and expand upon the techniques from the Basics class to explore deeper back bending postures both intellectually and physically.  

Sunday, January 13th, 2:45-4:15pm
Expanding Arm Balance Class

This class will build upon the Basics Arm Balance class.  We will utilize and expand upon the techniques from the Basics class to explore and link more complicated arm balance postures together.
